Donna: Female, Alto with a high belt, 35-45,: The owner of the Taverna on the Greek island of Kalokairi; Sophie’s mother, (around 40, American). She is the former lead singer of “Donna and the Dynamos. Honest, straight and hard-working, she is the most naturalistic and vulnerable of the characters. Delivers some of the biggest solos in the show

Sophie, Female, Pop Soprano, 18-25: A very special young woman who is determined to find the romance and happiness she feels eluded her mother. Has an adventurous spirit even though she pursues a conventional marriage. Must be able to move extremely well. Principal role.

Tanya, Female, 35-45: A former singer in the “Dynamos.” Rich, sophisticated, acerbic, funny, and witty. She has married several millionaires and discovered a lot more about plastic surgery than love - to the extent that she was ever looking.  Actress who sings. Must be able to move extremely well. Supporting principal role.

Rosie, Female, 35-45: Also a former singer in the “Dynamos” who now writes for and runs a feminist press. A character who has developed a confident, funny and self-deprecating exterior which masks her inner vulnerability.  Kooky and fun, good comic actress, a bit of a clown. Dances like nobody’s watching. Actress who sings. Must be able to move extremely well. Supporting principal role.

Lisa, Female, 18-25: Sophie’s friend who arrives to be a bridesmaid. Very energetic and kooky. Must be able to dance. Featured ensemble role.

Ali, Female, 18-25: Sophie’s friend. Impulsive and fun. Should contrast to Lisa and Sophie. Must be able to dance. Featured ensemble role.

Sam, Male, Baritone, 35-45: May be Sophie’s father. Sam has regretted leaving Donna all his life and now finds himself divorced and back in her presence. He is straight-laced, confident and composed. Charming, successful architect. Actor who sings. Should be able to move well. Supporting principal role.

Harry, Male, High Baritone, Tenor, 35-45: May be Sophie’s father. British financier, wealthy, buttoned-up, and conservative but trying to reconnect with his freer, youthful self. Once a head-banging, partying musician who went down the straight road with his career. Must do a very convincing English accent. Also an actor who sings. Should be able to move well. Supporting principal role.

Bill, Male, Baritone/Tenor, 35-45: May be Sophie’s father. A travel writer with no possessions or strings. A real character (40-50, often English or Australian), Bill has generally avoided the complexities of a relationship and now wonders if it’s too late. Lots of comedy and a golden heart within. Funny, comedic actor. Should be able to move well. Supporting principal role.

Sky, Male, 24-30: Sophie’s fiance. Athletic, attractive – was a successful businessman. Left to help Donna with her taverna and marry Sophie. Featured ensemble role.

Father Alexandrios, Baritone/Tenor, 30+: The minister who officiates Sophie’s wedding. Often a heavy-weight Greek Orthodox priest, this is a potentially delightful little role.  A nice little turn in Act 2 for someone who doesn’t want too much to sing. Would consider a female for this role.

Ensemble: Males & Females, Ages 16+: Dynamic dancers with vocal range and comedic chops.

Looking for 25-26 total in the cast.
